Privacy Policy
How Chinese Color Atlas handles basic privacy and contact information.
Data we collect
Chinese Color Atlas is a mostly static site. We may receive your email address and message content if you contact support or purchase a digital resource pack.
iOS app data
The Chinese Color Atlas iOS app is designed to be local-first. Photo color extraction is processed on your device; the app does not upload your photos for extraction. Favorites, palettes, language preference, and reminder preference are stored locally on your device. If you enable daily reminders, notification permission is used only to schedule the daily color reminder.
Figma plugin data
The free Chinese Color Atlas Base plugin does not make network requests and does not upload Figma files, layers, selections, or personal data. It stores only the slugs of up to six recently chosen starter colors in Figma clientStorage on your device/account so your palette can be restored. The plugin reads the current selection count and modifies selected fills or creates cards, palettes, and local Variables only when you explicitly choose those actions.
How we use data
We use contact information to reply to support requests, support digital purchases, and improve the product. We do not sell personal information.
Analytics and hosting
Hosting providers, Google Analytics 4, or payment platforms may process technical data such as IP address, browser, device, and page visits according to their own policies.
Payments
Polar processes payments for website resource packs. New Commercial API Beta subscriptions are paused; any existing subscription records remain available for fulfillment or support. Chinese Color Atlas does not directly store complete payment card details. The iOS app does not currently unlock paid digital content or process in-app purchases. If in-app purchases are added later, this policy will be updated.
API interest voting
When you click the API interest button, the voting service uses your network IP address to compute a secret-keyed fingerprint so the same IP is counted once across both websites. The vote database stores the fingerprint and time, not the raw IP address. We show an aggregate vote count; shared networks may allow only one vote, and changing IP addresses may allow more than one. This information is used only for this interest campaign. Contact support with privacy questions.
Studio waitlist
If you join the Studio waitlist, we collect your email address, the language of the page you used, the page you joined from, and the time. We use them only to tell you when Studio launches and to invite you to try it early. We do not sell your email address, and we do not use it for anything else. The form sends this information only to our own sign-up service, not to any third-party tracker. Google Analytics records that a sign-up happened (with the page language), never your email address. To limit abuse, the sign-up service computes a secret-keyed fingerprint of your network IP address and keeps request counts for at most one day; the IP address itself is not stored. We keep your email address until 12 months after Studio launches, or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first. To unsubscribe or have your email address deleted, email support@chinesecoloratlas.com and ask us to remove it.
Commercial API Beta data
For API Beta activation and support, we may process contact details, contract or order status, the public key file you provide (JWK format), API usage counts, quota status, records of API key creation, replacement, or deactivation, and security or audit events. Keep private keys and API keys in your own systems. Do not include private keys, complete API keys, request bodies, search terms, RGB values, or other sensitive information in support messages. Operational logs are limited to fields needed for authentication, usage measurement, troubleshooting, and suspension.
